Sweden’s giant penis will remain – owner thinks it’s “art”

The blue-tailed giant pencil painted on a facade at Kungsholmen in Stockholm will remain for a week, announces the real estate company that currently owns the house.

According to the company, this is an important piece of “artwork”.

Real Estate Company Atrium Ljungberg has decided to let the “artwork”, which depicts a blue giant penis on Kungsholmen, sit up for a week, now announced in a press release.

It was on Wednesday that the giant penis on Kronobergsgatan was discovered.

Atrium Ljungberg claims they wish to take care of the interests of the immediate neighbors, “but at the same time wishes to protect artistic freedom,” he writes.

The so-called artwork, dubbed “FUCK THE WORLD”, depicts a giant blue penis with yellow background and is painted by left activist Carolina Falkholt, who on Facebook also suggested that he paint a big vagina over the White House in the United States.

She herself calls her paintings “grafitta”.

She has previously done similar works in other locations including New York.

“Some people are positive about the work and think it is an important part of the debate about sexuality, body and gender. Others, especially neighbors, have received the work less well and perceived it as offensive,” writes the real estate company.

“Culture and art is an important part of the development of interesting urban environments. We are obviously passionate about artistic freedom, but at the same time we must respect the closest neighbors’ opinions. By letting the work remain for a short period of time, we are able to satisfy everyone’s interests in regards to the artwork,” says Camilla Klint, Marketing Manager at Atrium Ljungberg.
