During the first six months of this year, there have been 40 shootings against people in Malmö, showing statistics reported by the police to SR.
Six people have been killed and 16 have been injured.
This is comparable to last year when the total – throughout the year – occurred 60 shootings with six dead.
In 2015 there were 57 launches in Malmö throughout the year.
Despite that, the police do not have the resources to investigate the events. Several of the investigations are high and it will remain because there are so many shootings.
– Continuing this, we need to ask for some form of national reinforcement to get rid of this. Both investigative, but also to strengthen our police staff in our residential areas, “said Claes-Arne Hermansson, Head of Malmö Police Department, to Sweden’s Radio.
This year, Malmo police has a total of 10 new murders to investigate, ie people killed by shooting or otherwise.
According to Claes-Arne Hermansson, priority is given to cases where one sees so-called success factors, ie cases that they consider to be able to solve.
