Swedish Democrats, the political party in Sweden, have announced they want to follow in the footsteps of the United States by relocating Sweden’s embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem and therefore recognising Jerusalem as the official capital of Israel.

The statement was announced by the party on Monday afternoon at the same time protests were taking place in Gaza against the US embassy launching in Jerusalem.
The opening of the US Embassy in Jerusalem on Monday has led to an increased number of casualties in Gaza, where so far over 60 Palestinians Most of them, Islamic terrorist, were killed in the clashes and 1,700 injured.
Last year, it was the marking of 50 years since Israel freed East Jerusalem during the six-day war of 1967. A number of years later in 1980, Israel adopted a national law declaring East Jerusalem annexed, thus officially becoming part of Israel. However, the annexation was not internationally recognized.
The Israeli Jerusalem Law states that “Jerusalem, full and united, is the capital of Israel”. Few countries have recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, but last year, US President Donald Trump made it official by relocating the US embassy to Jerusalem. The United Nations and other UN states do not accept the Jerusalem Law and have their embassies located in other cities, such as Tel Aviv.

As late as December 2016, the UN Security Council ruled in a resolution that Israel’s settlements in Palestinian land since 1967, including East Jerusalem, have no legal validity and constitute “a flagrant violation under international law and a major obstacle to the vision of two states such as living side by side in peace and security,” as written by the UN on its website.
Moving the embassy is seen as recognizing that Israel takes the entire city, including the eastern part, as it is.
Now the Swedish Democrats want to move Sweden’s embassy to Jerusalem. The party has announced that it considers the move to be “self-evident” because the city is “deeply intertwined with the history of Israel and of the Jewish people.”
“We wish to follow in the footsteps of the United States and move the Swedish Embassy to where it always should’ve been – in Jerusalem,”
the party announced through Julia Kronlid in a statement today.
Kronlid has previously been shown on a film showing how she receives political instructions from Iranians pretending to be Jews and representing the Israeli lobby. The same Iranians, who call themselves “Avner Jonathan Ben Israel”, also appeared on the SD‘s 2014 election, where they received great attention from the party’s representatives.
