German govt: Turkey supports terror groups in Middle East

The Federal Government Turkey sees loud ARD as “central platform for action” for Islamist and terrorist organizations in the Middle East. This is from a is considered confidential response to a request of the Left in the Bundestag shows that present the ARD studio.

Ankara accordingly cooperates with Islamists for years. The report could worsen the already tense diplomatic climate between Berlin and Ankara yet. Also between federal interior and foreign ministry there was because of the response sent by the Interior Ministry for the Government irritation.

“As a result of especially since 2011, gradually Islamized domestic and foreign policy of Ankara, Turkey has the central platform for action developed for Islamist groups in the region of the Middle East, “it says loudly ARD as communicated by the Parliamentary interior Secretary Ole Schröder response to the request. “The many expressions of solidarity and support actions for the Egyptian MB (Muslim Brotherhood), Hamas and groups of armed Islamist opposition in Syria by the ruling AKP and President Erdogan underline their ideological affinity with the Muslim Brotherhood.”

This is the first officially a direct link between the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and a terrorist organization ago federal government according to the report – because, as such, is at least the Hamas, unlike in Turkey, classified since 2003 in the European Union. The opinion was based on estimates made by the BND.

Opposition politicians throw Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) and Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier (SPD) since the beginning of the refugee crisis, to hold back with criticisms of Turkish politics. The government had willingly made subject to the initiated by Merkel EU refugee pact with Turkey of Erdogan.

The Turkey defend itself repeatedly against accusations it is supplying weapons also fighting in Syria terrorist groups. In the case of Hamas, however, the Turkish government has a fundamentally different assessment as Israel and the West: In Ankara, Hamas is regarded as the legitimate representative of the Palestinian people, which was defending itself against the Israeli occupiers. Even during his time as Prime Minister Erdogan received Hamas leaders Ismail Haniyeh in Ankara with fraternal gestures.

The SPD foreign policy expert Rolf Mützenich feared consequences in relation to Ankara due to the publication of the report. “In such a sensitive and wide-ranging assessment of the Foreign Office would have to be involved,” he said on ARD. “After all, it is in Turkey a NATO country, and German soldiers are stationed there at present.”

The Links Group feels vindicated in its criticism of Turkey policy. Their foreign affairs spokesperson Sevim Dagdelen said the dpa, it is unacceptable that the federal government publicly “terror godfather Erdogan called partners while still warns internally before Turkey as a hub of armed Islamism”. The responses of the Federal Government “cry out for a radical change in political life in Turkey”.

FDP leader Christian Lindner said the dpa, Interior Minister Thomas de Maizière (CDU) and Steinmeier would inform Parliament and the public about ” While it is true that a country goutiert Islamist terrorism, are stationed in the German soldiers and that’s our NATO partners. Europe can no longer negotiate with a government on the inclusion in the EU, “the same time behind our backs will strengthen the forces who want to destroy our European values”. (Dpa)
