The city of Stockholm now says that another EUR 22 million will be added to training places for newly arrived immigrants. Immigrants will be able to attend a vocational education at the same time as they study Swedish (SFI).

The labor market council of Stockholm is responsible for establishing new efforts to increase new arrivals in employment.
The initiative will focus on educating more professionals in areas where there are no staff, such as nurses in health care.
“Our new Stockholm residents will be able to qualify for work and have their own livelihood,” says the Social Democratic Council of Mirja Räihä.
She thinks this is the fastest way to encourage more immigrants to start working.
The city of Stockholm will also invest in so-called outreach activities aimed at newly arrived immigrant women, as this group faces the most difficulties in the Swedish labor market.
